Tom Welgoss and his wife, Joan, have resided in Surry since 2011. Both place great importance on community involvement. Joan served on the Surry School Board for nine years, including six as chairperson; she started the successful Surry Children’s Backpack Food Program in 2017.
Tom served as Surry Town Treasurer for nearly 10 years, and has served several town committees, including: Finance, Investment, Alewife, Schoodic Sculpture, and Backpack Program. On behalf of the Surry Community Improvement Association Drive Program, he regularly drives residents needing a ride for medical appointments. He received the Surry Community Improvement Association and Hancock County “Spirit of America” awards for community involvement. He also volunteers as Treasurer and Trustee of the Pierre Monteux School and Music festival in Hancock.
Tom has 54 years of financial and risk management experience, primarily with The Gillette Company in Boston. He graduated from Boston College with a B. S. Degree cum laude in accounting, and earned the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
