Eric website bio Selectman-Eric Treworgy
A 1979 graduate of Yale University, Eric has spent the past 35 years as a sales and operations executive in the computer software industry, specializing in entrepreneurial start-ups.  He began his career as a research chemical engineer in Texas and the Netherlands. He’s currently semi-retired and  co-owner of Pugnuts Ice Cream Shop in Surry, with his husband, Karlton Holmes.

Eric has strong roots in Maine. He grew up in Milo, summering in Surry on Contention Cove, where he now lives permanently.  His family of sea captains trace their presence in Maine to the mid-1600’s in Kittery and starting in the 1800’s to Blue Hill and Surry.

Eric has a passion for community service.  He spent three years  as CEO of STRIVE International, a workforce development organization in New York City that educates difficult to employ people on how to enter the workforce and to stay employed.  He has received several awards and recognitions, including a proclamation from the Governor of New York in 2008 in recognition of his work at STRIVE.

The most important aspect of Eric’s interest in serving Surry is accessibility and transparency.  His primary responsibility this year is overseeing tax assessment, and he can be reached at assessor@townofsurrymaine.com.  He is also found at Pugnuts during business hours.  Please let him know how he can help!
