Chris Stark

Chris Stark, a Maine resident since 1986, moved to Surry with his wife Francine Garland Stark in 2015.  

He is retired from a career in education, public health, and volunteer coordination. He has 15 years’ experience working as a volunteer coordinator, first as Area Director of the 5 northern counties of Maine for the American Cancer Society and later as Volunteer and Office Manager for WERU FM. He also worked with teenagers in tobacco prevention through the Bureau of Health for 20 years. 

He worked in the education sector for over 15 years, as a Spanish teacher, primarily at Hampden Academy, and later as Behavioral Health Professional at KidsPeace. 

Chris says that serving as Surry Selectman is a way to give back to the community, to ensure that information flows freely, keeping lines of communication open and encouraging community input and collaboration.
